The organisation
At Rotorua Lakes Council, you’ll work on some of the most exciting and meaningful development projects in Aotearoa. The role
As a Consents Planner, you’ll:
- Consider a wide range of standard and complex land use and subdivision consent applications, ensuring high-quality, timely outcomes.
- Provide trusted advice and support to the planning consents team.
- Work closely with developers, consultants, iwi and hapū, and community stakeholders, providing innovative solutions and effective customer advice.
- Represent Council in statutory processes, including hearings and Environment Court, and plan changes.
- Collaborate with policy, compliance, building and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated planning and development outcomes.
And you
- A tertiary qualification in resource management, planning, or a related field.
- Planning experience in either local government or consultancy, including RMA and subdivision consenting.
- Strong understanding of statutory processes and hearings.
- NZPI membership (or eligibility).
- Appreciation of Te Ao Māori and the ability to work effectively in a bicultural environment.
- A collaborative, solutions-driven approach with exceptional communication and leadership skills.
