BCITO is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to lead its Northern sales team and grow meaningful apprenticeship and training partnerships across the North Island. This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role where your influence will be felt through people, relationships, and long‑term outcomes.

In this role, you’ll sit at the intersection of strategy, sales leadership and stakeholder partnership, guiding a team of Business Development Advisors to deliver real impact for employers, learners and the wider industry. You’ll be trusted to shape how the Northern region operates, strengthening team culture, lifting performance, and working closely with national leaders to drive sustainable growth.
This is a role for someone who enjoys leading from the front, coaching others, and creating momentum.
You will:
· Lead, coach and develop a geographically spread team of Business Development Advisors across the North Island
· Build a collaborative, high‑trust team culture that supports performance, wellbeing and accountability
· Drive regional sales strategy, prospecting activity and territory planning
· Strengthen relationships with employers, industry bodies and education partners
· Be actively involved in key client conversations, proposals and growth opportunities
· Work closely with the Business Strategy Manager for Growth to align regional and national priorities
· Use insight and market knowledge to continually improve how BCITO partners with industry
This role involves regular travel across the North Island, offering the opportunity to genuinely connect with your team, stakeholders, and communities on the ground.

You’ll be a confident, values‑led people leader with strong commercial instincts and a practical, relationship‑focused approach to sales.
You’ll likely bring:
· Proven experience leading and motivating a sales or business development team
· Confidence managing performance and building trust
· Strong stakeholder and key account management capability
· A sound understanding of sales cycles, prospecting and territory management
· Commercial acumen and comfort working with CRM systems and data
· A collaborative leadership style, cultural awareness and a genuine growth mindset
Experience in construction, trade, education, or training is helpful, but not essential. What matters most is your ability to relate, influence, and lead with integrity.
