About the organisation
With over 50 centres across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty, Central Kids Kindergartens has been providing high-quality, affordable early childhood education since 1951. Their team of highly qualified, experienced Kaiako (teachers) are truly invested in the future of tamariki, as well as the wellbeing of the whole whanau.
About the role
We are looking for an accounting professional to assist the Finance Manager and support key stakeholders in the effective management of financial services across the organisation.
Duties and responsibilities will be broad and include;
- Ensuring accounting processes are completed in line with policy, regulatory requirements and leading-edge practices
- Completing transactional activities such as AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, GL and journalling functions
- Building effective business relationships and networks both within and external to the organisation
- Maintaining asset registers and overseeing assigned service contracts
- Providing advice, education and support to budget holders
- Identifying opportunities to improve costs, efficiencies and decision-making capability within the organisation.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will have strong numerical skills, the ability to prepare and interpret financial statements, and a solid understanding of financial reporting standards and regulations. Proficiency in budgeting and forecasting, problem-solving, and ensuring accuracy in financial data is essential.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A formal qualification in accounting, business management or equivalent experience
- Knowledge and application of NZIFRS and financial/ accounting best practices
- Sound understanding of financial management systems and associated software
- Effective stakeholder relationships and communication skills to support business requirements
- A Te Ao Māori perspective in all that you do
